Utilizing project management services and two-man work crews, FSS ran cabling and installed cameras, mic/speakers, strobe lights, keypads, DVR s and alarm panels. Once the equipment was installed, FSS technicians downloaded software to the DVR and performed a series of tests prior to activating the system.

Increased Capacity for Wired and Wireless Devices for a National Retailer
FSS was selected to turnkey 900 nationwide sites, all requiring multiple visits. An initial one-day survey was conducted to identify cabling infrastructure and potential IDF locations. Utilizing CAD drawings on the second visit, FSS fine tuned equipment placement and electrical requirements. The final site visit required five consecutive nights by the FSS engineering team to install IDF closets, fiber optics, Cisco switches and RF access points. The new system provides the customer with significantly increased capacity for wired and wireless devices.

Banking ATM Surveys
A major supplier to nationwide banks needed detailed surveys performed prior to installation of new ATM s. Working with a multi-page checklist, FSS technicians conducted the surveys, which required several digital photos and dimensional sketches to create CAD drawings for each location. On completion of the site checklist, the CAD drawings, survey information and digital photos were consolidated into the client's database.

IT Deployment for New Stores (Union and Non-Union Sites)
FSS spearheaded a massive IT deployment in 51 new, big-box (116,000 sq. ft.) stores across the country. The nationwide rollout included inventory of equipment and infrastructure creation. FSS ran several miles of fiber optic and both 25 pair and category 3 phone cable. FSS then installed racks, switches and routers in the MDF along with several Cisco switches. At each location, FSS installed a PBX, phones, PC s, printers, kiosks, price verifiers and all POS systems.

Installation of Campus LAN Infrastructure for U.S. Job Corps
FSS continually provides deployment services, design engineering and project management for the United States government. Complying with Department of Labor standards, FSS conducts campus surveys and performs CAD services to design the local area network (LAN). The projects involve the installation of a centralized fiber optic hub. Next, fiber feeds are run to intelligent hubs at outlying buildings. Where fiber is connected to the hub, a Cat. 5e patch panel is installed with cable directed to local workstations.

Upgrade of Pharmacy System for a National Drugstore Chain
FSS provided project management and on-site services for the upgrade of a national drugstore s computer network. The project included the installation of 17 flatscreen monitors, Neoware terminals and KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switches in over 2, 000 stores. FSS was given total responsiblity for site preparation, equipment inventory, take down of the old system, installation of hardware and software, and successful initialization of the new system.

CCTV Installation for Large Grocery Store Chain
FSS implemented a CCTV security surveillance system, which included the installation and termination of RG-59 cable for up to 70 cameras and 4 monitors per store. FSS project managers worked closely with the client s construction manager, as his schedule deadlines were extremely tight. The project was completed on time.

Mini Assistance Center (MAC) for a Large Retailer
Allowing customers to verify item pricing in the department where they are shopping, FSS installed 8-12 price scanners in each of 540 stores spread across the US. Over an 8-week period, extensive work was performed, such as moving existing equipment, installing Nortel 460 powered ethernet switches, and working with the client's Help Desk to insure the system functioned perfectly. FSS also installed and tested Cat. 5e data cables at each of the MAC s.

Wireless Infrastructure for a Large Retailer
To replace outdated WLAN equipment in 62 department stores, FSS implemented a meticulously planned RF access point. The upgrade greatly enhanced speed of the WLAN and opened up support for several wireless devices. FSS provided site surveys, CAD services, WLAN engineering, project management, integration services and field technicians.

Installation of Guest Call Buttons for a Large Retailer
To help the client improve customer service, FSS installed 9-12 call buttons in each of 1,250 nationwide stores. The project included installation of 3 to 4 receivers per store, each with cat.5 cabling to the MDF. Once the system was installed, individual components were tested to verify connectivity. Accomplishing the Herculean task in just 40 days, FSS provided project management, two-man work crews and staging and consolidation services.

International Book Retailer
FSS was selected to perform server migration, switch replacement and image upgrades for PC s and POS devices with various operating systems, such as Windows XP, Windows 98 and DOS-based systems. The scope of work involved identifying existing cable infrastructure, removing obsolete devices and rearranging existing racks. Over a 16-week period, 492 sites were successfully upgraded.

Single Site: Regional Distribution Center, 1.4M Sq. Ft. (30 Acres Under One Roof)
In this large warehouse, FSS was given responsibility for infrastructure creation, deployment of wired and wireless devices and installation of IT equipment (phones, PCs, security system). FSS defined and supplied working accessories, such as lifts, trailers, scaffolding, pallet jacks and power generators. FSS scaled the workforce, provided daily reports and coordinated logistics with the general contractor. To meet on-site requirements, FSS deployed 5 to 20 union or non-union technicians and logged over 11,000 labor hours. At conclusion of the four-month engagement, FSS produced a professional field manual and conducted on-site training.

LAN Network Installation and System Conversion for National College Bookstore
As new college bookstores are added to the national chain, FSS engages immediately to implement network connectivity. FSS provides site surveys with CAD documentation detailing placement of equipment and rack cabinets. The scope of work includes equipment inventory, cable running (CAT 5e and fiber) and rack-mounting servers. On the cutover date, the existing LAN is taken down, and the new network is taken live. FSS technicians establish WAN data communication and backup links to the university system, POS payment system and national bookstore headquarters. As a final step, all networked computers and point-of-sale registers are initialized.
